Cue impact
An agent offering praise can lead users to be more open to persuasion (Fogg 2003), is perceived as more attractive (Derrick, Ligon 2014) and as more humanlike (Lortie, Guitton 2011). Furthermore, appreciation of the user can reduce the stress level in demanding situations and makes the agent perception friendlier (Gebhard et al. 2014). Also, agents rewarding the user verbally can moderate the effects on the perceived social presence and personalization (Verhagen et al. 2014) and impacts the attention, confidence and satisfaction of the user (Guo et al. 2016). Agent promoting himself was perceived as more powerful, trustworthy and perceived with higher expertise (Derrick, Ligon 2014).
